Strategic Systems Navigation

We will guide your organization through an in-depth exploration to understand and influence the underlying dynamics of the system you operate in. We adapt our methods — facilitated workshops, one-on-one interviews, or a combination — to suit your team and the stakeholders you want at the table. Depending on length of engagement, our support may include:

• A landscape study of the system you serve in, through desktop study and/or stakeholder interviews

• Identification of an aspirational state of your system's desired condition; and a framing question that will guide the systems mapping

• Development of the causal loops and systems map, either through a co-creation workshop with your team, or through a series of in-depth interviews across the system

• Socializing the systems map with external stakeholders to seek feedback, whether through interviews or a group session

• Identification of leverage points for change and development of a theory of transformation, including a guided future visioning exercise, helping your team reimagine possibilities and chart a path forward

For organizations already exploring systems thinking but seeking ongoing guidance, we offer fractional advisory — flexible, part-time support tailored to your team’s needs. Project Spotlight

The Shoal Co. partnered with a global family foundation to strengthen its impact in animal welfare Southeast Asia through a systems-level assessment of wildlife trade linked to traditional medicine. The work laid an evidence-informed foundation for strategic grant-making in the region.
